We have again had a busy few months but very enjoyable with hosting lots of summer activities for the families we support. With additional funds raised, families and staff have enjoyed trips to the beach, BBQs and the Safari Park, amongst many others! It is hard to believe that the summer passed so quickly.

It was lovely to meet Annabelle Ewing MSP and Katrina Phillips, Chief Executive of Child Accident Prevention Trust, who came to our Haven Project to see how we support parents to keep their children safe.

I would like to welcome Lyndsay Fraser-Robertson back from her travelling fellowship and we look forward to seeing Lyndsay’s report and recommendations when it is completed. I am sure in true Circle style we will hold an event to celebrate the learning from this wonderful experience.

It would be lovely to see people coming along to our Annual Lecture on 12th October and our Haven Book Launch on 1st December. We are also holding a Parliamentary Reception on 30th November, to which you will receive an invite soon. This will be held at the Scottish Parliament to celebrate the work of our Women’s Outreach Team, which is part of our Families Affected by Imprisonment Project. I would like to thank Ben Macpherson, MSP for Edinburgh Northern and Leith, and Christina McKelvie, MSP for Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse, for agreeing to host this event and Karyn McCluskey of Community Justice Scotland who will chair.

I would like to thank David Tennant for judging our Father’s Day card competition. David’s on-going support of Circle is much appreciated.

Also, good luck to Jacqui Gillies who is a trustee of Circle and is raising money for us through the Kiltwalk. 26 miles is no mean feat and we wish her well.

I look forward to seeing people at our planned events over the next few months and if you need more information please be in touch.
